An introduction to black & white darkroom printing for beginners and people with some experience. Learn the basics in a small group. Sarah will give individual guidance to participants according to their level of experience. All materials provided.
- Darkroom safety
- Introduction to the Chemistry
- Making “photograms” with objects as a way to learn to use the enlargers and chemicals
- LUNCH break
- Using negatives in the enlarger (you are welcome to bring your own 35mm or 120mm B&W negatives)
- Making a test strip to decide on exposure
- Making a first print
- Washing and drying
- Analyse prints. Recap. Hand-out to take away
This Workshop will take place at the spacious Gate Darkroom at Thameside Studios Woolwich SE18 5NR. Full directions will be sent after booking.
The workshop is £39. But if you have attended any of Sarah’s previous workshop you can get a 10% discount making it just £35.
In 2022 Sarah will be running other workshops in film photography if you want to learn the whole process, including photo walks, processing your own film, and more advanced printing.
Covid : In the event of covid restrictions forcing us to cancel, your money would be refunded. We ask that everyone wears a mask when in the enclosed darkroom space, but a mask is optional in the large lightroom area where we will spend half the time. If you have Covid symptoms or a positive test please do not attend.
