Friday 28th Aug 11am-1pm – Anthotype Workshop – Colourful prints from plants

We will be making photographic light-sensitive emulsions from turmeric, beetroot, spinach and more. Anthotype is possibly the earliest photographic process, before all the toxic chemicals of the darkroom and digital photography got brought in. We class this as “slow photography” as there are no quick results. It will be a mindful process in collaboration with Nature, in the beautiful Christchurch Community Garden. You will end up with a rainbow of paper sheets to take home and experiment  with. We will use plants to make shapes on the paper as a “photogram”, we can also experiment with making “negatives” from photos. The workshop is led by Sarah Garrod an expert in historic photographic processes.

A unique opportunity to try something new, no experience necessary, only 8 places available. Tea & coffee provided. In the event of extreme weather we may need to postpone.Age 16+
